Clean Diesel Technology
Power for Volkswagen’s fuel-frugal sedan comes from the VW’s TDI direct injection technology. In simple terms, diesel fuel is sprayed directly into the engine where it mixes with hot, compressed air and causes an explosion. This internal combustion translates to power, something the Volkswagen Passat TDI delivers in abundance. And something it delivers cleanly. Through the use of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) and a sophisticated emissions system, the Passat TDI is up to 95% cleaner than past diesel engines.
Clean Design
As significant as Volkswagen’s TDI technology is, it would be wasted if it powered a vehicle no one wanted. No need to worry about that with the Passat TDI. Like all Passat models, the TDI vehicle features a comfortable cabin decorated with rich materials and intuitive controls.
Comfort and Convenience
The Volkswagen Jetta TDI is outfitted with a generous list of standard features including a premium sound system and heated front seats. A 400-watt, 9-speaker Fender Premium Audio System (for when you're looking for front-row seat concert sound) is optional. Every Jetta TDI sedan also comes standard with six airbags, anti-lock brakes, and Volkswagen’s Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP).
Value Beyond Fuel Economy
When it comes to sedans, value is often delivered with respect to affordable prices and efficient engines. The same could be said of the Volkswagen Passat TDI sedan, but the TDI goes further with features, style and design befitting pricier cars, a fun factor not found in most small sedans and hybrids. Add to that Volkswagen’s Carefree Maintenance (three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, of no charge scheduled maintenance), and achieving up to 43 MPG on the highway* almost seems like icing on the cake.
